Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police has launched a special drive against bikers indulging in rash and negligent driving on the busy streets in Cuttack.

As per sources, the cops have detected 43 cases of violations in a special drive launched in the past 24 hours.

The special initiative was launched across the Cuttack city and driving licenses (DL) of 99 persons were suspended and fine of Rs 17,500 was collected.

Apart from this, the Commissionerate Police has also detained 26 vehicles of several offenders during the drive.

Senior police officials informed that already clear instructions have been issued to all police stations to keep a tab on unruly bikers who are indulging in rash, careless and dangerous driving on public road in the city and creating irritation and threat to the safety and security of general public.

“All Police Stations have been instructed to keep watch on them & take strong action. ACP Traffic is monitoring & supervising the entire operation as the Nodal Officer. Bikes of Rowdy/Unruly users are being seized & their DL will subsequently be suspended with fine within the Provisions of MV Rules,” tweeted DCP Cuttack.

Who are unruly/ Rowdy bikers:

-Bikers who wilfully  disobey the traffic rules

-Bikers who do rash, negligent driving on public roads

-They neither wear helmet nor have consciousness about personal or public safety.

-Many of these bikes do not have no registration plate or fancy number plates

-Uses high sounded multi-horns causing inconvenience to public
