Bolangir: A doctor was allegedly attacked by the husband of a pregnant woman at Titlagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital in Bolangir district on Thursday evening alleging medical negligence.

As per reports, a pregnant woman was admitted to the Titlagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital at around 9 PM last night after she started to feel unwell. Later, her husband allegedly assaulted the doctor Dillip Patnaik alleging delay in getting ambulance service and negligence in treatment.

“She suddenly complained of ill health following which we rushed her to the hospital where we did not find a single nurse at the hospital which led to the delay in the treatment. After waiting for some time at the OPD, when we took the patient to the doctor, he asked the security guards to check the BP. Even the BP machines were also not working,” alleged Raju Sahu, patient's brother.

Refuting the charges, the doctor said, “I was examining the patient’s (pregnant lady) health when her husband attacked me and threatened that if anything happened to his wife, he will kill me.”

“I don’t have any idea where things went wrong,” added Patnaik.

After a complaint was registered in connection with the incident, Titlagarh Police launched an investigation. However, no comments could be obtained from the police.

Meanwhile, later in the day, police arrested two persons in connection with the incident.
