Bhadrak: A doctor was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a woman who was undergoing post-delivery treatment at a private nursing home in Bhadrak.

The accused, identified as Manoj Sahu, was dismissed from service following the incident and subsequently arrested.

According to sources, the woman had developed labour pain following which her family members brought her to the nursing home located near Gandhi Padia where she gave birth to a baby boy.

Subsequently, the accused, who was attending the woman, sent her husband outside to buy medicines and allegedly misbehaved with her. When the woman raised an alarm, other staff of the hospital rushed to the cabin. However, the accused managed to escape from the spot.

After a complaint was lodged by the woman’s family, police tracked the cellphone location of the accused and arrested him.

Cops learnt that the accused was in an inebriated state when he misbehaved with the woman.

“After my wife delivered a baby boy, the doctor at her cabin sent me outside to bring some medicines. My mother-in-law who was attending my wife had also gone outside with my elder son. Taking advantage of the situation, the doctor locked the door from inside and misbehaved with my wife,” alleged husband of the woman.

“We came to know that doctor misbehaved with the woman. Her husband later thrashed him and we handed over the accused to the police. We have already fired him,” said Dr Murali Padhi of the nursing home.
