Bhubaneswar: Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has issued directions to district level authorities to positively deliver text books to all the students up to Class-V within next five days.

An order regarding this was issued by State Project Director, Bhupendra S. Punia to all the District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Project Coordinators (DPCs) on 20th April 2020.

The order mentions, “As you are all aware that Text Book Production and Marketing (TBPM) has supplied book for the elementary classes up to block points, that could not be distributed among students because of early closure of schools in view of COVID-19 pandemic.”

“Now it has been decided to distribute the text books to either the parents at school or at door step, depending on the feasibility using services of CRCCs and teachers.”

Punia requested the DEOs and DPCs to take necessary permission from the district collectors before distributing books, as no activities are allowed inside the containment zones notified by the district administration to restrict the spread of Coronavirus in the area.

“You are requested to obtain prior permission of District Collectors regarding distribution of text book. It will not take place in any of the hotspot areas/containment zone/buffer zone or any other notified areas by the District Authorities,” Punia said.

Punia however, directed to complete the exercise within five days by maintaining all the government protocols regarding social distancing.

“Prior permission of Collectors for the rest of the areas to be obtained and text book to be distributed accordingly wherever feasible. While at it, all protocols regarding social distancing, safety and security should be followed strictly. It is expected to complete the exercise within next five days positively,” the letter said.
