Nuapada: Vigilance sleuths today carried out raids at the residence and office of forest ranger Sadhanan Sarangi at Khariar in the district and six other places including the house of his son-in-law Birendra Khara, an assistant engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) in Rayagada, on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

A team of vigilance officials from Jeypore and Nuapada conducted searches at Sunani's ancestral house at Nilaji and his brother's house at Nehena in Nuapada district.

Similarly, a separate anti-graft team led by vigilance DSP Anant Prasad Mallick carried out searches at the house of PWD engineer Birendra Khara at Rayagada. The anti-corruption officials raided Khara's house in connection with the case involving his father-in-law, DSP Anant Prasad Mallick said.

"Sadhanan Sunani was accused of amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income. Separate teams have conducted raids at Sunani's house, office and his relatives' houses in Nupada. Searches at Khara’s house is underway," the DSP said.

Important documents, cash and ATM cards have been seized during the raid, he said.
