Cuttack: A day after a fake edible oil producing factory was busted in Cuttack, Commissionerate Police on Wednesday unearthed a diesel adulteration unit operating from Jagatpur area.

1,000 litres of adulterated diesel, loading equipment, funnels, empty tanks and pipes were seized while the owner of the unit was detained from the spot.

The accused has identified as Kedaraswara Swain of Nankar in Jagatpur area of Cuttack.

Jagatpur police station Inspector In-Charge (IIC) Biranchi Pati said, “Acting on a tip-off, we raided the unit in Jagatpur area and detained one person. Involvement of other persons is also being suspected.”

Pati further informed that adulterated diesel unit operators used to collect diesel from oil tankers illegally and then used to mix kerosene. Later they used to sell the adulterated oil to market to several parts in tankers.

Earlier, a factory that used to sell adulterated oil under the brand name Ruchi Gold was busted by cops in Jagatpur area yesterday. The owner of the factory, identified as Anadi Charan Behera was detained from Mangalabag area.
