Bhubaneswar: DGP Sri Abhay today visited various districts in western Odisha and discussed with the respective SPs regarding the plans to implement the lockdown announced by State government strictly.

He met the SPs of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Deogarh and Sundergarh district at the respective district police headquarters.
Odisha police tweeted “DGP visited Jharsuguda Sadar PS and OSAP 2nd Bn., Jharsuguda campus and reviewed operational matters and welfare measures of the force engaged in Covid enforcement,”

He also visited Sambalpur and reviewed plans for implementation of lockdown from 5th May onwards and preparedness to further ramp up Police assistance to tackle Covid19, Odisha police stated through atweet.

ADG ( Law & Order) also accompanied him to the all the district. He also toured to town police station in Sambalpur and reviewed operational matters and welfare measures of the force engaged in covid enforcement.

In a tweet Sambalpur SP tweeted “DGP Odisha Shri Abhay IPS reviewed Covid enforcement in Sambalpur and Jharsuguda districts. Gave instructions regarding enforcement of lock down starting from 5/5/21.He emphasized police to be people friendly and enforce lockdown with empathy for people.”

“Odisha police is ready to enforce the lockdown strictly,” DGP said.

Odisha government today announced a 14-day lockdown starting May 5 to May 19 to break the chain of transmission as the state sees a spike in Covid cases.

As per the fresh orders issued by the Office of Special Relief Commissioner, while lockdown will be on the weekdays, complete shutdown will be observed on the weekends as per previous order.
