Determined To Free ‘Swabhiman Anchal’ From Maoist Menace: Odisha DGP

Malkangiri: The morale of security forces is high after the recent success in the anti-naxal operations in Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri district, said Director General (DG) of Police Abhay on Monday.

Abhay visited Malkangiri’s Swabhiman Anchal (cut off area) a day after two Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces on Sunday.

“Today, I had come to review the recently conducted operations and chalk out further strategy. The Maoists are trying to attack security forces and we are giving a befitting reply. The moral of security personnel is high and we are determined to free Swabhiman Anchal from Maoist influence,” said the DGP.

It is pertinent to mention here that two Maoists including a woman cadre were killed in exchange of fire with the security forces in Swabhiman Anchal in Malkangiri district on Sunday.

A huge cache of explosives and Maoist articles were seized by the security personnel from the spot. According to reports, the incident took place during a joint operation by the SOG and DVF jawans in the area. Acting on a tip-off, the security personnel launched a search operation in the area. The extremists opened fire at the security forces, following which the jawans retaliated. Two Red ultras were neutralised during the gunfight.
