Bhubaneswar: The deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during next 12 hours and subsequently into a Severe Cyclonic Storm in subsequent 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said in a bulletin.

The system is likely to move north-northwestwards and cross Andhra Pradesh coast between Ongole and Kakinada on December 17.

The IMD informed that several parts of Odisha will receive rainfall from December 16 with chances of thunderstorms at one or two places. The rainfall activity will mostly be over the districts in interior Odisha and a few places in the coastal areas.

Earlier, Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre Director, HR Biswas had informed that several districts of Odisha including Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput will receive heavy rainfall.
