Bhubaneswar: Dense fog engulfed the capital city and several places of the State throwing life out of gear in the early hours on Sunday.

Visibility reduced below 200 metres in Bhubaneswar affecting vehicular movement on the national highway severely.

"As forecasted, dense fog continues in Bhubaneswar city area. Airport observatory reported visibility of 200 metres at 6.00 am today morning," informed the Regional Meteorological Centre here.

Similar fog conditions prevailed in Balasore and Bhadrak district which affected the road and rail traffic.

The Met Centre in its latest bulletin yesterday evening had predicted that dry weather is expected to prevail over the districts of Odisha till December 16. However, fog condition will continue till tomorrow.

On December 14, the weather office has predicted shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur at a few places in the morning over the districts of Rayagada, Kandhamal, Koraput, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and at one or two places in the morning over the districts of Khurda, Puri, Kendrapara Bhadrak, Kalahandi and Boudh.

Similarly, yellow warning for dense fog has been issued for seven districts including Nayagarh, Boudh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Met Centre said that there is no large change in minimum temperature (Night Temperature) during the next 2-3 days. However, it will increase slightly by 2-3 degrees over the districts of north interior Odisha and no large change over the rest districts of Odisha after December 16.

On December 17, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of north interior Odisha and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha, added the Bhubaneswar Met Centre.
