Nayagarh: Evaluation of Plus-II examination answer sheets was hampered at Nayagarh Autonomous College today as more than 150 evaluators boycotted the evaluation and resorted to a demonstration in front of the evaluation centre after being denied air conditioning.

According to reports, the teachers engaged in the evaluation process staged a sit-in after the Principal of Nayagarh Autonomous College took away the remote control of the Air Conditioner (AC). During the demonstration, the evaluators raised slogans against the Principal and threatened to continue their protest until they are not provided air conditioning.

"I think the Principal is testing our patience. They provided air conditioning for the first two days. However, the Principal took away the AC remote control. We are being deprived of air conditioning despite having the AC machines in the room where 150 teachers are checking the answer sheets. The answer sheets are getting wet due to continuous heavy sweating in this sweltering heat," said Harihar Panda, one of the protesting evaluators.

"Immediate steps should be taken to resolve our issue or else we cannot restart the evaluation process," he added.

Another evaluator, Saudamini Paikaray said, "We boycotted the evaluation process as we are being deliberately deprived air conditioning."

No comments on the matter could be obtained from the principal and the concerned authorities.
