Bhawanipatna: Dengue is assuming serious proportions in Kalahandi with 18 more persons of Ladugaon under Koksara block in Kalahandi district testing positive for vector borne disease today. As per reports, out of 94 blood samples collected yesterday, 18 tested positive for dengue.

So far, 24 persons in the district have been tested dengue positive. A senior official said, 30 more blood samples have been collected from the district and sent for medical examinations today.

“Six medical teams are visiting from door to door in the village and collecting blood samples. The number of dengue affected patients is likely to increase in next five or six days. However, the condition is likely to normalise as adequate measures have been undertaken to contain the outbreak,” said Saroj Tihadi, Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Kalahandi.

Health workers are visiting the affected villages and anti-larvicides are being sprayed along with a massive sanitation drive to tackle the situation.
