Cuttack: A dengue positive patient from West Bengal, who was undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital, died here on Saturday.

The deceased identified as Manju Rout of East Midnapore in the neighbouring State.

According to reports, Rout was put on ventilator inside the Central Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of SCB for past four days after her condition deteriorated.

Rout breathed her last at around 7 am today due to suspected multiple organ failure, hospital sources said.

On an average, 200 to 250 suspected dengue cases are coming for tests at SCB and out of which 30% cases are tested positive, added sources.

SCB authorities informed that the hospital is fully equipped to deal with rising number of dengue cases from different parts of the State and outside.

Already, three separate wards have been set up to treat dengue patients.
