Bhubaneswar: In a last minute twist, Kandhamal MP and former BJD leader Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh today joined BJP when speculations were rife that she might join the Congress.

Even though it is still unclear whether the saffron party would field Pratyusha from Kandhamal or Nayagarh, the sitting MP has left the decision on the high command. However, she today reiterated that she wants to serve the people of Nayagarh.

“As I was inspired by the leadership of PM Modi, I joined BJP today. The party will decide from where I would contest the upcoming polls,” said Pratyusha adding that she would always be with the people of Nayagarh.

However, the sitting Kandhamal MP categorically stated that BJD will be her target while responding to a media query on whether she will be fighting against Arun Sahoo,  Bikram Arukh or Achyuta Samanta.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh had resigned from the primary membership of BJD on March 20 after being denied a party ticket.

Tendering her resignation letter to BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Pratyusha said that injustice was meted out inspite of her loyalty and dedication towards the party and people.

“I am irked as to why Bikram Arukh would have any say in matter of my nomination. After my husband's demise, I have been harassed in Nayagarh by Arun Sahoo with multiple legal cases. A party so vocal about women empowerment has failed me miserably,” Pratyusha had written in her letter to CM Naveen.
