Mayurbhanj: Police recovered the decomposed body of missing Karanjia Sub-Jail's warder near Karanjia grid in Mayurbhanj today. The body of the warder, Sukant Behera, who was missing since June 18, was found hanging from a tree.

As per reports, after spotting the body hanging from a tree, some locals informed the police. A team of cops rushed to the spot and identified the body with the help of Karanjia Sub-Jail superintendent Laxmidhar Murmu. Police also seized Behera’s cycle from the spot.

Family members of Behera informed that he was under pressure after a prisoner, serving life sentence in a murder case, escaped from the jail on June 16.

They also claimed that a hand-written note was found from Behera’s uniform mentioning that Murmu was responsible for his death.

Refuting any involvement in Behera’s death, Murmu said, “Neither do I know what Behera had written in the note nor I was aware of his death. I received the missing complaint from his family members yesterday and later took appropriate action. I never pressurise my staff so I don't know about the allegations mentioned in the letter.”
