Cuttack: Standoff between the Cuttack District administration and traders' association over the 'Bali Yatra' festival in Cuttack was resolved today after the former agreed to some of the demands of traders. The dispute had emerged over stall allotment and tender process for installation of rides.

General secretary of the traders’ association, Sukant Mohanty stated the district administration has conceded to accept some of the demands of traders.

Earlier in the day, the tent house association dismantled several tents pitched for setting up stalls along the Mahanadi river bed after the dispute between the traders’ association and the district administration intensified.

On Friday, the traders’ association had decided not to open stalls alleging the administration of changing rules frequently without prior notice.

The traders’ body had also demanded intervention of the local MLA to resolve the issue.

Earlier, a dispute had surfaced between the traders’ association and district administration over allotment of plots for stalls. The deadlock seemed to have ended and distribution of plots had begun.

However, another dispute had emerged between the two after the administration decided to install rides through tender process.
