Death of patient sparks tension at Orkel hospital

Malkangiri: Tension ran high at the Orkel hospital at Balimela in the district today following the death of a patient allegedly due to medical negligence.

As per reports, a local suffering from fever was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday. However, his condition deteriorated further resulting in death as no doctor attended to him.

Family members of the deceased alleged that though doctors were available in the hospital, no one attended to the patient even after repeated request.

Holding the doctors responsible for the death, the family members allegedly ransacked the hospital and staged a road blockade demanding compensation.
