Death Of 2 School Students Sparks Tension In Balasore
Balasore: Palpable tension prevailed in Khaira area of Balasore district after locals detained the teachers of Ratina Prahallada Model School following death of two Class-VII boy students on Friday.
Reportedly, the deceased- Dhananjay Jena, Rajesh Sahu, had gone to the canal after having mid-day meals to take a bath when accidentally they slipped and drowned. Following the incident, the irate locals and family members of the students locked up ten teachers inside the school for ten hours. They also demanded the administration to suspend all the teachers for dereliction in duty.
The teachers were however released by the locals late night at around 1 AM after District Sub-Collector reached the spot and assured Rs 8 lakh compensation each to the family members of the deceased.
As per latest reports, one platoon police force has been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident while the bodies of the two minor students have been sent to Bhadrak hospital for post-mortem.
