Dead fish found floating in Sono river in Balasore

Balasore: Hundreds of dead fish were found floating in Sono river at Remuna Block in Balasore district.

According to reports, after spotting the dead fish, locals of Patripala and Ganipur area started thronging to the river. While the exact cause of death on such a large scale is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that water pollution could be the reason.

According to some locals, the water appeared dark in color which could be because of excessive pollution.

"It seems the water has either been poisoned or polluted. When I entered into the river, I saw people collecting fishes," said a local.

While the locals have informed the district administration about the situation, officials of the concerned department are yet to reach the spot.
