Bhubaneswar: Regional Director of DAV Institutions in Odisha, KC Mohanty was served a show cause notice by the Odisha State Commission For Protection Of Child Rights (OSCPCR) over alleged violation of Right To Education (RTE) Act in the years 2018-19 & 2019-20.

As per reports, OSCPCR issued the notice after it received a complaint from Bhumohan Bebatra Pattnaik, the Co-Chairman of Odisha Parent’s Federation regarding violation of RTE Act.

Pattnaik has alleged that DAV schools in the state had admitted students from general category against vacant seats meant for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Group (DG) students under RTE Act. As alleged by Pattnaik, K.C Satapathy sought permission from Odisha government and admitted general category students in seats reserved for EWS/DG not only in 2018-19 but also in 2019-20 as well, flouting the norms laid down by the government.

Taking cognizance of the matter, chairperson of OSCPCR, Sandhyabati Pradhan has issued a show-cause notice to Satapathy directing the latter to furnish response on or before 20 December 2019.

Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) was constituted under section 17 of the Commission for Protection of the Child Rights (CPCR) Act 2005 and has been mandated to act as a civil court to undertake suo-motu enquiry relating to the violation and deprivation of child rights.
