Dangerous Thunderstorm Alert In Odisha; 3 Killed In Lightning Strikes

Bhubaneswar: Amid thunderstorm and lightning warning of the Regional Meteorological Centre here, at least three persons were killed while one sustained critical injuries in lightning strikes at two separate places in Keonjhar district of Odisha on Wednesday.
While two people were killed in Badasialimala village under Harichandanpur block, one died in Thakurapada village due to lightning, said an official. Another person who was critically injured in the lightning strike has been admitted to Keonjhar hospital.
“We have received reports regarding death persons due to lightning. We are inquiring into the reports,” said a senior official.
Meanwhile, the MeT department has issued dangerous thunderstorm and lightning warning for several places across the State. The alert has reportedly been issued for Telkoi, Banspal, Pallahara, Lahunipada, Barakote, Patana, Ghatagaon, Anandapur, Kankadahada, R. Udayagiri, Mohana, Sanakhemundi, Digapahandi, Kutra, Badagaon, Sukinda, Harichandanpur, Bhuban, Kamakhyanagar, Purjanga, Talcher, Kaniha, Riamal, Tileibani, Nakatideula, Odapada, Patrapur, Chikiti, Bahalada, Tiring, Jamada, Banspal, Jhumpura and Joda.
People in these areas are being sensitized about all possible ways to save themselves from lightning and advised to stay indoors.
