Bhubaneswar: A few days after his expulsion from BJD, senior leader and former minister Damodar Rout today came down heavily on BJD Jagatsinghpur district president Bishnu Das and termed him as a 'corrupt', 'hated' and 'characterless' person.
Bishnu Das is such a corrupt and characterless person and he never hesitates to take bribe from people seeking pensions. He is a hated personality in his own Jagatsinghpur unit, Rout told mediapersons here today.
Firing salvo at Das, Rout said, "Can Das ever claim that he has truly worked for the party? Has he ever organised a party meeting outside Jagatsinghpur or worked with people of my constituency Paradip? Rout questioned.
"I can assure that his career is over and he will never be able to go to Assembly again,” Rout said.
Meanwhile, amid talks on formation of a new regional party by loyalists of former chief minister Biju Patnaik and those ousted from the BJD, Rout today said that he will be meeting his supporters in Paradip in a few days to decide on his next course of action.
Asked if his son will be granted a BJD ticket from Paradip during the upcoming elections, Rout said it is his personal decision if he will fight or not. "If my supporters say that they will only support me and none else and BJD grants ticket to my son, then I will fight elections and leave the decision to my son whether he would want to fight," Rout said.
On the other hand, Bishnu Das ridiculed Dama's statements saying that the people of Odisha are fully aware of his character.
I don't have to prove my character because someone says so. Das said, adding that Rout should instead tour Kutra area of Sundergarh rather than Paradip.
Asked about the new reorganisation in Jagatsinghpur unit of the party to counter Rout's effect, Das said that the decision by the party supremo will give a new enthusiasm to workers of the party.
