Puri: Raking up the issue of 'fixing' in selection of sacred timber  'daru' used for making idols of the deities at Puri Jagannath temple during the 2015 Nabakalebara festival once again, the secretary of Daitapati Niyog Premananda Das Mohapatra demanded a detailed probe into such discrepancies.

Mohapatra questioned how all the three sacred trees were found at a single location (Jagatsinghpur district)? Besides, he has also raised questions over why the selection team decided to embark on a journey to search for the maha ‘daru’ during night.

"All such issues calls for a probe," said Mohapatra.

Not only Mohapatra, the members of Odisha Civil Society are also demanding a CBI probe into the whole episode as it has hurt the sentiments of Odias.

“We demand a probe by the central investigating agency into the alleged irregularities to bring out the truth. Apart from this, the Brahma Parivartan fiasco probe report should also be made public,” convener of the Odisha Civil Society, Pradeep Pradhan had told on Sunday.
