Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths on Monday morning conducted a raid at the Khandagiri residence of Dr. Prasanna Kumar Mishra, an Assistant Professor with an engineering college in the state capital, in connection with the probe into a disproportionate assets case.

Kumar is working as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the Ghatikia Engineering College in the smart city. The raid was conducted by the anti-corruption agency of the State police on the allegations of acquisition of disproportionate assets by the assistant professor.

The raid is still continuing.

Apart from Bhubaneswar, the Vigilance department are also conducting separate searches in Malkangiri and Bargarh districts.

In Bargarh, the sleuths from the anti-corruption agency raided the residence of Kambhupani Mishra, who is working as a junior accountant at the civil supplies department. Sources said simultaneous raids are being carried out by the Vigilance department at three places connected to Mishra who is accused of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

In Malkangiri, the sleuths of the anti-corruption agency arrested a doctor, identified as Panu Charan Mandal, posted at the Padia Community Health Centre on the charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 for clearing a vehicle bill on November 20.

According to sources in the Vigilance department, the concerned doctor had allegedly accepted the bribe from the block programme manager Srimanta Atibudhi.

During interrogation of the block programme manager, the anti-corruption officials found the involvement of the doctor who was arrested following a raid today.

Earlier on November 18, Vigilance sleuths conducted simultaneous raids at six places associated with Chandramani Sahu, an assistant engineer of Talcher Rural Development Department, on charges of amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.
