Jajpur/Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids at six places associated with Ratnakar Mohanty, a junior clerk at Dharmasala Sub-Registrar office, on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.

On the basis of a search warrant issued by Cuttack Vigilance department, several teams of the anti-corruption agency raided Mohanty’s residential building in Dharmasala, single-storey building at Barajunagar near Jaraka, Hotel Akash of the suspect officer at Jalasukha, market complex and building at Shantibazar mouza in Badamangalpur, his relative’s house at Chandapur village here and laid its hand on some important documents. Moreover, a team also searched his office room in Dharmasala.

Similarly, vigilance teams also searched the properties associated with one Udayanath Jena, a senior clerk at the office of Sub-Collector in Bhubaneswar on DA charges today.

The Vigilance Bhubaneswar division raided Jena’s residential house at Ebaranga in Sundarpada, his native place at Endulapur in Kendrapara and office room in Bhubaneswar.

Three days back, an assistant engineer working with the District Rural Development Department in Dhenkanal was arrested by the vigilance while accepting a bribe of Rs 16,000 through a middleman to clear the bills of a contractor.

The anti-graft sleuths laid a trap and arrested engineer Bipin Dash while he was taking the bribe from contractor Jagamohan Panda through Shaktiprasad Mohanty, a middle-man. The engineer had allegedly demanded the bribe amount to clear a bill furnished by the contractor who had installed LED bulbs in the rural areas of the district after winning the tender for the same.
