Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday raided the house of Asit Nayak, a senior clerk of Roads and Buildings Division of the Public Works Department on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The Vigilance department recovered Rs 10, 62,605 cash, gold ornaments and other valuable household articles during the search on the residence of the senior clerk.

The officers of Vigilance (Bhubaneswar Division) had conducted multiple searches including the three storied building at Dumduma, his parental house at Golanthara and office chamber at R&B Division on the strength of search warrant issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

Earlier, the Vigilance department had conducted raids at separate places in Rourkela and Berhampur today over disproportionate assets cases.

While residence of a Commercial Tax official working at the office of GST was raided in Rourkela, an Anganwadi worker in Berhampur also came under the Vigilance glare for allegedly amassing ill-gotten properties.

The Anganwadi worker, identified as Namita Dalei is working at the Anganwadi centre at Ward no 9 in the city.
