Bhubaneswar: India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) on Sunday predicted heavy rainfall activity in some parts of Odisha. As per the latest weather bulletin, several districts in South and North Odisha will experience heavy rainfall for couple of days from November 25.

At present, the low pressure area over southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal has become well marked low pressure area and persists over the same region, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

The system is likely to concentrate into a depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours and intensify further into a cyclonic storm during subsequent 24 hours.

“It is very likely to move north-west-wards and cross Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram around November 25 noon/afternoon,” said IMD.

Here is the complete weather outlook for Odisha:

Day 1 (Valid From 1330 Hrs of November 22 upto 0830 Hrs of November 23)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Dense fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the dist of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Nayagarh

Day 2 (Valid From 0830 Hrs of November 23 upto 0830 Hrs of November 24)

Yellow Warning:  Dense fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the dist of Kandhamal, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Rayagada, Dhenkanal

Day 3 (Valid From 0830 Hrs of November 25 upto 0830 Hrs of November 26)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of North Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati.

Day 4 (Valid From 0830 Hrs of November 26 upto 0830 Hrs of November 27)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of North Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Rayagada and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, and Koraput.
