Cyclonic Circulation Over Interior Odisha Becomes Less Marked; IMD Issues Rain, Thunderstorm Alert

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours, predicted India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.

The alert has been sounded for 19 districts- Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Kandhamal Ganjam, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Balasore and Bhadrak.

Apart from this, light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely to occur in the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati and Ganjam in the next 24 hours.

As per IMD, the cyclonic circulation over interior Odisha adjoining North Coastal Andhra Pradesh has become less marked. However, several districts will continue to experience rain and thunderstorm activities till April 20.

Moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati, Ganjam and Koraput.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.04.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 19.04.2021)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Gajapati, Ganjam and Koraput.

Day 5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 19.04.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 20.04.2021)

Moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Koraput and Malkangiri.
