Bhubaneswar: Odisha government today announced a special relief package for the people affected by Cyclone Fani. As per the decision, house building assistance of 95,100 will be provided for fully damaged structures, Rs 5,200 for partially damage and Rs 3,200 for minor damages to people as per relief code.

Houses completely damaged will be constructed under housing schemes. Loss of agricultural & horticultural crops, animal resources, fisheries will be assessed and compensated accordingly. Tree plantations will be taken up in mission mode soon after relief and restoration.

The families in extremely affected-Puri district covered under Food Security Act will be provided 50kg of additional rice, financial assistance of Rs 2,000 and polythene.

Moreover, one-month quota of rice, Rs 1,000 and polythene has been announced for people in cyclone-hit Khurda district will be provided.

People in Cuttack, Kendrapara and jagatsinghpur districts, which have been moderately affected by the cyclone Fani, will be given one month quota of rice and financial assistance of Rs 500.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday held a high-level meeting at State secretariat and directed Collectors of districts affected by cyclone Fani to supply cooked food to people for 15 days.

Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Padhi has assigned additional responsibility to supervise the overall relief, restoration and housing works while Development Commissioner Asit Tripathy has been  directed to look into drinking water, electricity and transportation works in the cyclone-hit areas.

Apart from this, Saurabh Garg, the Principal Secretary of Agriculture department has been asked to coordinate with NGOs and international organisations.

Similarly, Sanjay Kumar Singh, the Skill Development and Technical Education Department Secretary has been assigned to look into the media and material logistic affairs.
