Bhubaneswar: As extremely severe Cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ inches closer to Odisha coast, all flights to and from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar have been cancelled as a precautionary measure.

As per latest information, several passengers including from Odisha have been stranded at Bangkok airport after Air Asia flight was cancelled today. Official sources said no flights will take off from midnight today for the next 24 hrs from Bhubaneswar Airport.

Bhubaneswar airport director, Suresh Hota informed that till now IndiGo has cancelled its 48 flights while GoAir’s six flights from Bhubaneswar airport have been cancelled.

“The Bhubaneswar airport will function but there would be no flight services till May 3. Till now, IndiGo has cancelled 48 flights and GoAir has cancelled three arrival and three departure flights,” said Hota.

Hota further informed that usually it is very difficult to operate flights during strong winds.

Later in the day, AirAsia also cancelled all its flights to and from Bhubaneswar for tomorrow.
