Cuttack: Top Frontline Covid-19 Fighter Succumbs To Virus

Cuttack:  Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Covid-19 nodal officer and Corona control room in charge Biswanath Lenka succumbed to the virus while undergoing treatment at a Covid hospital here, on Monday.

According to sources, Biswanath, who was working as the statistical officer of CMC, was given the responsibility as Corona control room in charge when the virus inspection was at its peak.

“Lenka was very sincere in discharging his duties in serving the Covid-19 patients. He was always alert in reaching the patients, shifting them to hospitals and taking care of the patients staying in home quarantine. We could never forget his sacrifice and sincerity,” said CMC commissioner Ananya Das.

“He was even ready to join duty while undergoing treatment. His sacrifice will never go waste. It has inspired one and all in their fight against Covid-19. We express our deepest condolences for the departed soul,” added Das.

Lenka will be cremated with guard of honour on Monday.

While eight employees of CMC have been infected so far, Lenka was the first to succumb to the virus.
