Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday claimed to have detained all the accused involved in the sensational day-light loot at the office of a private finance company, India Infoland Ltd (IIFL), at Nayasarak area on Novemver 19.

The police have also seized a substantial part of the looted gold and two bikes from the accused, informed Sudhanshu Sarangi, Commissioner of Police, in a tweet.

“I feel proud of my officers and hope twin city citizens take pride in having such a competent and professional police force that could solve one of the most sensational robbery cases in Odisha history in record time,” wrote Sarangi.

The details of the police detection will be disclosed during a press conference scheduled to be held at 1 pm.

In the morning hours on November 19 armed dacoits had stormed into the strong room of IIFL and looted cash and gold ornaments worth several crores of rupees.

Initial reports claimed that around four armed dacoits had gained entry into the office of the private finance company after taking the lone security guard and other officials at gunpoint in the busy market place.

The incident took place soon after the company opened for daily business between 10 and 10: 30 am.

The day-light robbery had also raised questions over the security measures in place at the private finance company.
