Cuttack: It is that time of the year again when the people across the country gear up to usher in the new year in style. As the countdown to bid adieu to 2018 has already begun, the millennium city Cuttack is all set for New Year bash.

From theme parties, cultural programmes to DJ shows, most of the hotels, clubs, pubs and restaurants in Cuttack are trying their best to provide the revellers the perfect ambience for the Zero Night celebrations.

The Union Club has planned Dj night where singers from Kolkata- Debapriya and Madhumita will entertain the audience with their power-packed performances. Besides, fashion and dance shows will be another added attraction here.

“We have tried to do something different from the last year’s zero night celebrations. We have brought artists from outside the State who will entertain revellers with their dance and music. We have also made arrangements for kids and kept special prizes for the audience,” said secretary of Union Club, Rashmiranjan Swain.

The Odisha Cricket Association Club will also organise dance and musical programmes on December 30th and 31st.

Manager of OCA, Subrat Samal informed, “There will be celebrations for two days in OCA Club for New Year. On 30th December, programme will be held from 7 pm to 10 pm and on 31st December and if the administration permits then celebrations will be extended till midnight.”

The Commissionerate Police on the other hand has also made adequate arrangements for maintaining law and order during Zero Night celebrations in the millennium city.

Adequate police force will be deployed at several points of the city while blocking and checking of vehicles will be carried out at strategic locations.

“Adequate police forces have been deployed in the city and checking of vehicles has started since the last two days. We are also removing modified silencers from bikes that make high noise and also monitoring the speed of the vehicles,” informed Cuttack DCP Akhileshwar Singh.

The DCP further added, “As per Supreme Court orders, fireworks will be allowed from 11.55 pm till 12.30 am in the city.”
