Cuttack: Even after a month since an elderly couple from Beleswar area of Cuttack was murdered, the Commissionerate Police is yet to get any clue in the case following which family of the victim has announced Rs 50,000 cash reward for information on the culprits.

"My parents had no enmity with anyone so I am clueless why they were killed," said Madhusmita Samal, daughter of the murdered couple.

As per reports, on December 12, miscreants slit throats of Srinath Samal and his wife Bidulata Samal after barging into their house at around 7PM. Later, a police investigation was launched into the case.

With no progress in the case, family members of the deceased decided to announce a cash reward for information on the culprits and have put up posters in the locality.

Family of the elderly couple has alleged that someone who knew the victims is behind the crime.

"We are suspecting that someone my parents knew has killed them. We are ready to pay Rs 50,000 to anyone who gives us information on the culprits," Nibedita Parida, another daughter of the murdered couple, said.

Meanwhile, a special team consisting ADCP, two ACPs and two IICs has been constituted to investigate the case and the culprits will be arrested soon, informed DCP Akhileswar Singh.

"We have interrogated around 50 people in connection with the case so far, but there is no concrete evidence. Our investigation is underway and the culprit will be nabbed soon," said the DCP.
