Puri: One person was injured on Friday after being hit by a bullet fired from the weapon of a security guard deployed at the Bank of India branch in Kumbharpada of Puri district. The injured customer Munna Gharami, who hails from West Bengal, was first admitted to Puri hospital and then he was shifted Bhubaneswar.

As per reports, Munna was standing near the customer kiosk when he was hit by a bullet fired ‘accidentally’ from the weapon of security guard, Ajay Moharana.

Moharana claimed that the shot was fired from his service weapon after it slipped from his shoulder and fell on the ground.

“The weapon was on my shoulders and a bullet got fired accidentally after it fell on the ground,” said Moharana.

Meanwhile, Kumbharpada Police have detained Moharana and seized his weapon. Further probe in connection with the incident is on, police said.
