'Crorepati’ Sarpanch in Vigilance net

Ganjam: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids at various locations including the residence of Sarpanch of Ankaroda panchayat in Digapahandi block of Ganjam and seized cash and valuables worth crores of rupees.

The Sarpanch, Usant Sahoo, is accused of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to sources, the Vigilance team raided Sahoo’s property at Niladri Vihar area of Digapahandi, Nabarangpur village, Rajpur village, Angaroda panchayat office and the garage owned by Sahoo.

During the raids, the Vigilance team members seized gold ornaments weighing around 500 gram, cash worth Rs 60,000, documents of 12 plots and two cars worth Rs 28 lakh. This apart, a mouser with five live bullets was also seized.
