Bhubaneswar/Ganjam: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested an Anganwadi worker and a senior clerk of Road and Building division for amassing disproportionate assets to the tune of crores of rupees.

Namita Dalai, an Anganwadi worker of Mangalbaram Petta-II in Ganesh Nagar of Old Berhampur was found in possession of moveable and immovable assets worth over Rs 2.25 crore. Similarly, over Rs 5.23 crore of assets belonging to Asit Kumar Nayak, a senior clerk, RB Division-1, Bhubaneswar was traced by the vigilance.

Yesterday, simultaneous raids were conducted at six places in Berhampur and Bhubaneswar following allegations of accumulation of disproportionate wealth by the Anganwadi worker.

Her moveable and immovable assets include a triple-storied building and a double-storied building in Berhampur, two flats in Goutam Nagar and Sundarpada in Bhubaneswar, two single-storied building in Berhampur, one four-wheeler, one Chhatua machine, one motorcycle, deposits in different banks, gold and silver ornaments, one plot at Kanisi Tehsil and cash.

Similarly, the property of Asit Kumar Nayak, working as senior clerk, RB Division-1, Bhubaneswar was simultaneously searched at five places by the officers of Vigilance Bhubaneswar Division.

His residential triple storied building at Dumduma, one Duplex and one plot at Pradhan Sahi, Jatni, parental house at Kaithapalli, Golanthara, one flat at Berhampur in Spectrum construction and office room at  RB Division were searched.
