Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch is now on a mission mode to wipe out illegal narcotics trade in Odisha. The probe agency on Thursday seized Brown Sugar weighing 1 kg 310 grams following a raid in Khordha district.

A peddler, identified as SK Anwar of Kaipadar area has been arrested in connection with the incident, senior officials said.

As per reports, a team of STF raided a location near Khordha bypass on the National Highway and apprehended Anwar while he was allegedly transporting the narcotics on a two wheeler.
Anwar has been booked under section 21 (c), 29 of the NDPS Act. Further investigation in this connection is underway.

Today’s seizure of the huge haul of brown sugar comes a day after the Ganja (dry cannabis) consignments worth over Rs 1.5 crore were seized from two different places in Odisha in the past 24 hours.

The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch intercepted a12-wheeler truck on State Highway No-5 near TikarpadaHarijanSahi in Muniguda area of Rayagada district and seized ganja weighing more than two tonnes from the vehicle. The market value of the narcotics is estimated to be around Rs 1 crore

In another development, the Excise department officials of Berhampur division reportedly intercepted a coir-laden truck, a car and a pickup van on the National Highway in Berhampur and seized over 11 quintals of ganja from the truck. The market value of the ganja is estimated to be around Rs 55 lakh.
