Bhubaneswar: After around three months, degree colleges and universities in Odisha reopened today for the teaching and non-teaching staff. In adherence to the COVID19 guidelines, proper arrangements were made on the premises for sanitisation & social distancing.

As per reports, thermal screening of the staff entering the premises is being conducted and provision of sanitizers at the entrance has been made by the authorities to ensure adequate protection against COVID19.

In Rajdhani College in Bhubaneswar, seating has been rearranged to ensure social distancing.

“As 2nd semester and 4th-semester exams have been suspended, the lecturers can take online classes for next semesters. In every department, we are strictly maintaining social distancing and it is compulsory for everyone to wear masks,” said Sasmita Tripathy, Rajdhani College Principal.

On the other hand, staffs travelling from a distance have complained of issues in their commute due to the lack of transportation options.

“I along with several other lady lecturers didn’t get a bus to our colleges after waiting for a long time. As bus services are not yet regularized, it is difficult to travel longer distances. In case, we get a bus to reach college, there is no certainty that we will get one on our return,” a college lecturer said.

President of All Odisha 662 Category (+2 and +3) Non-government Lecturers’ and Employees’ Association, Golak Nayak said, “Following the directive, the lecturers reached their respective colleges either bearing huge expenses or making own arrangements. Many couldn’t even reach due to lack of transportation.”
