Bhubaneswar: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar has decided to close its walk-in OPD (outpatient department) services temporarily from April 25 in view of rapid rise in the number of COVID cases.

“The decision has been taken as ‘many of our team have to go on quarantine as they have turned out to be COVID positive or are close contacts to those infected cases,” an official AIIMS Bhubaneswar release read.

During the OPD closure, services such as Day Care services, Radiotherapy, Dialysis, Trauma and emergency, Emergency and life-saving surgery, Telemedicine and teleconsultation services, IPD services, Pulmonary (vaccination RMRC), Anaesthesiology (PAC and Pain Clinic), Immunization for old registered patients (Wednesday & Friday) and Yellow Fever (Thursday) will continue.

“The patient who already had their registration online before 25 April 2021 is allowed to be attended by their respective department by showing their online booking number at the entry gate. They shall be entitled to enter the hospital premises with only one Attendant and strictly adhere to COVID protocols,” the institute said in a release.

“Even though walk-in-OPD services will be stopped, “AIIMS Bhubaneswar Swasthya” App and Telemedicine services will continue,” the release added

Critical patients can take an appointment with the treating doctor through the AIIMS Bhubaneswar Swasthya App and Telemedicine services and come to OPD. At the entry gate, the patient have to show appointment details and after that they can make a OPD ticket and consult with the treating Doctor.

“Emergency service shall be provided 24×7 at any cost by the faculties of all specialty and super specialty departments to provide better patient care service, for which the AIIMS is famous,” the release added.
