Cuttack: The district administration has declared Khanduali village under Athagarh block here as a containment zone after detection of as many as 16 Covid-19 positives in the village.

As per an official order, the containment order will come into effect from tomorrow (Saturday) and the restrictions will remain in force for the next seven days. The decision to enforce containment restrictions was taken after 16 villagers were tested positive for Covid-19, a senior official said.

The administration has said health camps will be set up in the village and contact tracing will also be intensified. Asymptomatic patients will remain in home isolation, while people in the village have been asked not to move out of their homes to prevent further spread of the infection.

The authorities have cautioned that no person will be allowed to step outside the containment zone during the enforcement period. Similarly, outsiders will not be allowed to enter the restricted area. Even the shops and commercial establishments have also been asked to down their shutters.

The district administration, however, has stated that it will make necessary arrangements for the supply of medicines and other essential items to the people inside the containment zone.
