Bhubaneswar: The total number of people who have so far recovered from the Covid-19 infection in Odisha crossed another milestone of 4 lakh mark in the State on Monday.

As per the information available with the State Health Department, as many as 6488 more people who had tested positive for the virus earlier were discharged today.

The count takes the overall recoveries in the State to 404063.

Khordha district which is the worst-hit region in the State in this second wave of the pandemic Monday has reported the biggest surge in recoveries at 1185.

Sundargarh too has registered 786 recoveries in the last 24 hours while Nuapada is the third on the list with 514 people in the district been declared free from the virus infection in the last one day.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar which comes under the jurisdiction of Khordha district today reported 823 new infections and 709 fresh recoveries.

On the other hand, the State as a whole saw a sharp fall in the number of fatalities. As per the IPR department, various parts of Odisha reported a total of 8914 Corona cases and 5 new deaths in the past day.

Of the new cases reported from 30 districts, 5,081 were detected from various quarantine centres, and the rest 3,833 were detected during contact tracing.

The total positive tally of Odisha stands at 4,71,563 while the death toll remains at 2073.
