Bhubaneswar: Driven by a strong commitment to fight Covid-19 collectively, Odisha police on Thursday informed that it is creating green corridors for the smooth movement of the vehicles transporting essential oxygen supply to the States facing acute deficit.

Following a directive from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Odisha police has appointed a special officer for overseeing the smooth movement of the oxygen-laden vehicles to needy States.
Senior IPS officer and present Law and Order ADGP, YK Jethwa, has been appointed as the nodal officer to coordinate with the other States and ensure transportation of oxygen without any hindrance.

“A dedicated green corridor for oxygen carrying vehicle will be set up, wherever necessary, along with police escort for interstate coordination and smooth movement. SPs/DCPs and range DIGs/IGs/CP shall supervise the movement personally within their jurisdictions, a release issued by the State police stated.

The State police had created green corridor under police escort to transport two tankers carrying emergency medical oxygen to Visakhapatnam and Pune from Jaipur.

Yesterday, a tanker carrying 20 tonne of oxygen had left for Visakhapatnam from Angul under police escort. The tanker was loaded in presence of a local police IIC and other cops in Angul and was escorted towards its destination.

It may me noted, the chief ministers of Delhi and Maharashtra have extended sincere gratitude to Odisha government for supplying maximum quota of oxygen and facilitating their smooth movement to various outside States where several hospitals are running without oxygen.
