Nabarangpur: The Nabarangpur administration on Friday has imposed a three-day shutdown in the district starting tomorrow (August 8) morning in view of a rise in COVID-19 cases.

The district has so far recorded 356 positive cases of which 270 patients have already been discharged. One person has succumbed to the disease while the active caseload stands at 85.

In the last 24 hours, seven persons from the Municipality area, one person from Kosagumuda block and three from Tentulikhunti block were tested positive.

The shutdown will be enforced reportedly to intensify testing in the affected areas and subsequently minimise a possible rise in the local contacts.

On the other hand, Kalahandi administration has also imposed a shutdown in Bhawanipatna Town on August 7 and 8. District SP has urged people not to hide symptoms stating that health workers will conduct a door-to-door survey.

Meanwhile, the district administration of Bolangir has also decided to impose a four-day shutdown from August 8 to 11. According to a notification issued by the administration- shops, establishments, government and private institutions and movement or assembly of people across the district will be restricted. Similarly, intra-district public and private transport have been barred.
