Bhubaneswar: Even as all the academic institutions including hostels have been closed from today due to the unprecedented Corona pandemic resurgence, Odisha government has made it mandatory for presence of 50 per cent staff in schools for smooth continuation of important programmes like admission.

As per the new directive, fifty per cent of teaching and non-teaching staff have been asked to remain present in their respective school and the head of the institution should prepare duty chart accordingly, State School and Mass Education Department in a letter to all the directors under the department.

The move comes as an attempt to continue important programmes like admission of students, distribution of NT, books, monitoring of mead day meal programme and any other works assigned by district administration from time to time in an unhindered manner.

The government has said that the provision will remain in place at school points until further orders. It has however clarified that anybody wishing to leave headquarters should take prior permission of Collector and District Magistrate through concerned head of the institution/DEO/BEO.

But any deviation will be viewed seriously, the S&ME Department mentioned in the letter.
