Bhubaneswar: The second phase dry run of the COVID-19 vaccine will be conducted in Odisha on January 8 (tomorrow), said Additional Chief Secretary, PK Mohapatra on Thursday.

The dry run for COVID-19 vaccination shall be conducted between10.00 am to 12.00 noon in all districts and Municipal Corporations.

Sites for dry run have been planned in following locations in all districts of Odisha:

1. One at SDH / CHC per district

2. All Medical College & Hospitals (in districts where available)
3. One UPHC / UCHC (in districts where available)
4. One large Private Hospital (in districts where available)

“Already, clear instructions have been issued to all officials to complete the necessary preparations for the dry run of the COVID-19 vaccination drive,” said Mohapatra.

Earlier, the dry run for immunisation activity was conducted at 31 places of Odisha as part of the nation-wide exercise on January 2.

At each site, 25 numbers of beneficiaries (health care workers) were enrolled in the portal for the dry run vaccination drive.

The dry run is conducted to ensure smooth vaccination after the rollout of a vaccine, official sources said.

Health department director, Bijay Panigrahi said special instructions have been given to keep surveillance on any adverse impact, if any, after the Covid-19 vaccination is administered.

AEFI kits will be specifically kept at each sites for any side effects on beneficiaries, Panigrahi added.
