Bhubaneswar: As the vaccination drive against Covid-19 resumed in Odisha on Monday after a day’s pause, the State health authorities have set a target to inoculate 31,902 persons on the second day.

As many as 380 sessions will conducted across the State today to vaccinate 31,902 healthcare professionals, informed Bijay Panigrahi, Director of State Health and Family Welfare department.

Panigrahi said that 1.78 lakh health workers will be administered the vaccine doses in a span of eight days starting from today.

“We will complete vaccination of the remaining 1.78 lakh health workers by January 25 starting from today. A total of 1698 sessions will be conducted in the eight days,” Panigrahi said.

The health director said the number of sessions to be conducted per day has been fixed. While 380 sessions will be conducted today, 192 sessions will be held tomorrow (January 19), 92 sessions on January 20, 436 sessions on January 21, 141 sessions on January 22,  178 sessions on January 23 and 279 sessions on the concluding day (January 25).

Earlier, 13,890 health workers were vaccinated in the State on the first day of the much-awaited vaccination programme. The recipients of vaccine will be administered the second dose exactly after a gap of 28 days.

Panigrahi said there was enough stock of vaccines in the State for the second dose vaccination. The health workers will be intimated about the vaccination through SMS two days ahead, he added.
