Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 vaccination will be carried out at Community Health Centres (CHCs) across Odisha only three days a week, informed State Health and Family Welfare department director Bijay Panigrahi on Friday.

Speaking to reporters here Panigrahi said, "After discussions with the Central government, we have decided not to carry out vaccination at Community Health Centres (CHC) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday every week. There will be no vaccination on Sunday also."

"Similarly at government and private medical colleges, the immunisation drive will be carried out every day except holidays," Panigrahi added.

"Today we have planned 150 sessions and set a target to vaccinate 13,155 health workers," Panigrahi stated, adding that, "Odisha will receive 1,49,760 Covaxin doses within a week which will be used in Bhubaneswar only."

Sharing details on Thursday's vaccination, the Health department director said, "As per the plans, 44,880 health workers were vaccinated in 436 sessions yesterday, while as many as 20 districts reported 100 per cent vaccination. Till 21 January, 1,13,623 health workers have been immunised."

"Capital City Bhubaneswar Thursday notched up an impressive rate of 186 per cent vaccination as against a rate of 118 per cent Wednesday. As against the target of 600, a total of 1,113 had taken the jab yesterday," he added.

Asked about side effects of the vaccination he said, "Two persons from Bargarh, one from Khordha and one from Jagatsinghpur experienced mild reactions after taking the vaccine jab. However, their health conditions are stable now."
