Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to maintain an upward trend in the Covid-19 graph with 879 fresh cases reported in last 24 hours today.

Out of the total cases detected in last 24 hours, 518 have tested positive from quarantines centers, while 361 are local contact cases.

With the new cases, total count in the State reached 3,45,526.

Khordha district continues to record maximum daily spike at 144 followed by Sundergarh which witnessed 131 new cases.

Similarly, Nuapada district stood third in the row with 61 new infections while Bargarh registered 53. As many as 50 fresh cases have been detected in Cuttack while the figure in Sambalpur is 48.

Puri reported 45 cases while Kalahandi saw 43, Mayurbhanj 29,Ganjam 31 and Keonjhar 25 new cases.
With the new cases, Odisha now has 4,888 active cases, and 3,38,662 patients have so far recovered from the disease.

As many as 246 patients have recovered in last 24 hours.

Odisha government has directed the police to launch a 10-day drive to implement the Covid norms strictly in order to tackle the second wave of the infection.

Two days, ago, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had chaired a high-level review meeting with senior State officers and all collectors. He directed the DGP to deploy adequate forces to effectively enforce the Covid guidelines such as wearing of mask, social distancing and action against the violator
