Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Wednesday registered yet another record spike of 4,851 new cases of Covid-19, and five more deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the State Information and Public Relations Department.

With this, the coronavirus caseload and death toll in the State surged to 3,82,315 and 1,958 respectively. The active cases in the State stood at 30,927 while 3,49,377 patients have been cured or recovered so far.

The fresh cases spread across 30 districts included 2814 from quarantine and 2037 local infections.

While two fatalities were reported from Nuapada, one death each was reported from Cuttack, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh district, said the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.

As per the data released by the H&FW Department, two districts in the State have reported more that 500 infections which included Khurda the worst hit with 703 fresh cases and Sundargarh 516 cases in the last 24 hours.

11 other districts reported over 100 cases each which included Nuapada (486), Bargarh (318), Cuttack (304), Puri (223) Jharsuguda (290), Bolangir (227), Nabarangpur (194), Sambalpur (171), Keonjhar (166), Ganjam (151) and Angul (111).

Similarly, districts which reported below 100 cases are- Rayagada (85), Kalahandi (79), Mayurbhanj (78), Bhadrak (73), Nayagarh (66), Jajpur (64), Koraput (62), Kendrapara (58), Balasore (52), Jagatsinghpur (39), Deogarh (35), Gajapati (35), Malkangiri (31), Dhenkanal (31), Kandhamal (27), Boudh (22) and Sonepur (9).

The State has so far tested a total of 97,06,949 samples including 38,548 on Tuesday. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 3.94 percent.
